We’ve been sloooowwly working towards our first big fix-up project on this crooked old house!

All year we’ve been thinking, sketching and researching ideas for what we need & want in a new kitchen. This time we’re *not* doing it all ourselves! That was fun before we had kids, but I don’t think we can pull it off in this stage of life. We’ve got our hands very full with parenting and we don’t have any family here to help with the work or the kids! It feels strange – but also kind of luxurious – to hire a contractor to fix up our house!

I love the sunlight in here and the warm wood floors, but everything else is honestly terrible! The oven doesn’t really work, burners are infuriatingly crooked, the 1980’s-vintage MDF cupboards are crumbling apart, and the noisy dishwasher (god bless it) must’ve passed its 40th birthday, still chugging. The windows are a mess and occasionally they’ve blown right out of the frames when it’s really windy! It feels like it’s definitely time to replace *everything* in here.

We’ve been through many iterations and lots of waiting, but I think we’re basically done with the plans and finally ready to go!
